A Cardonald flat where a “hazardous” electricity meter was deemed an “immediate risk to life” could be bought by the council and turned into emergency homeless accommodation.

Families have twice had to be moved out of the Paisley Road West property by Glasgow City Council officials as it isn’t allowed to be occupied.

Officials are now proposing a compulsory purchase order [CPO] for the home — along with two flats in Dennistoun — to allow it to be reused.

The flat at 1610 Paisley Road West fails “both the tolerable and repairing standards”, according to council officials. There is a closing order in place, but it has been found to be occupied on two occasions.
