DONALD Trump has said his patience is "running out fast" with Vladimir Putin but that he won't impose sanctions just yet.

Trump revealed his frustrations at Russian leader Vladimir Putin just days after Russian drones breached Polish airspace.

The provocation drew the ire of the US president, who said he had given Putin several deadlines to step back from the three-year conflict.

Appearing on Fox News on Friday, Trump's comments come just hours after Moscow announced that peace negotiations with Ukraine were "on pause".

Trump stopped short of threatening Moscow with sanctions and is yet to impose any other penalty on the country.
