Reluctant or hesitant might not be quite the feelings Elwood Donnelly had when he was approached by the Warren Fourth of July 250th Committee to compose an anthem of sorts for the town's celebration, but he certainly wanted to make sure he got the deals correct with writing the lyrics.

And he hopes he's done well by the spirit of the Revolutionary War time locally with his offering, "Warren’s Lamentation," which he will debut in public during the committee's kickoff event Friday night, Sept. 19, at The George Hail Free Library on Main Street from 5-8 p.m.

Donnelly's lyrics are sung over a tune based on an American Civil War song, "Paddy’s Lamentation." He, with some help along the way from his wife and musical partner in the Atwater-Donnelly band, Aubrey, wrote the song ove
