A 56-year-old Schuylkill County woman driving a tractor-trailer in Dauphin County died Thursday afternoon after being involved in a crash, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Just after 2:30 p.m., Carol A. Lopez’s front right tire blew out while driving northbound on I-81, causing her 2015 Mack Truck Granite to veer right and slam through a guard rail, then up an embankment, where it overturned.

State police said the crash took place near mile marker 78.9 in East Hanover Township.

After the crash, Lopez, of Schuylkill Haven, became trapped inside the tractor-trailer. Despite efforts from first responders to free her, she was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers, police said.
