U.S. Facebook users who filed claims in a $725 million settlement may soon receive payments, as distribution is set to begin in September.

The settlement followed a class action lawsuit alleging Facebook made users' data available to third parties without their permission, finalized in May 2025. Advertisement

Emails obtained by sister station WGAL sent to claimants this week said that the distribution of settlement benefits "will commence in September, and payments will be sent in batches over the following 10 weeks."

The email also stated, "You will receive an additional email notice approximately 3-4 days before your settlement payment is issued. Please continue to check your email during this time period."

Anybody who was a U.S. Facebook user between May 24, 2007, and Dec. 22, 2022
