(CNN) – Coffee prices are on a double-espresso caffeine high.

Retail costs went up more than 20% in August compared to 12 months prior, according to the Consumer Price Index.

That’s the biggest year-over-year leap for coffee since October 1997.

Economists say the Trump administration tariffs on coffee-exporting countries like Brazil are playing a huge factor in the cost hike.

The U.S. imports the most coffee in the world.
