The City of Allentown is celebrating the completion of restoration work on the historic Union Terrace Amphitheater alongside a successful partnership with ArtsQuest that brought free concerts to the venue this summer.
Built in 1937 as part of President Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration, the amphitheater underwent $382,000 in renovations funded by the Trexler Trust and the City of Allentown. The project, completed by local masonry contractor Penn Mount Stone, included repointing historic stonework and replacing damaged stones at the entrance steps, stage and pylons.
