Two men have been arrested after a man had hundreds of pounds stolen from him in a violent city centre robbery.

The victim reported he was attacked on Nicholas Street, off Mosley Street, at around 2am in the early hours of this morning (Friday, September 12).

He was 'punched, kicked and pushed to the ground' before having his wallet stolen, which contained around £300.

Officers attended the scene and found the man's wallet, which had been thrown in a bush.

They then detained two suspects nearby.

The men were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in custody for questioning.
