ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - A River Region woman is now being held at the Jefferson County Jail after a Thursday arrest on drug charges, the Alabama Department of Corrections confirms.

Gwendolyn Reese was taken into custody after the ADOC Narcotics and K9 Division and the Elmore County sheriff’s office served a search warrant at her home on Lucky Town Loop.

She’s now charged with trafficking and first-degree promotion of prison contraband 1st.

ADOC says Reese’s arrest stems from an incident in Jefferson County where she’s alleged to have attempted to bring contraband into Donaldson Correctional Facility.

Other details were not released, but ADOC said Reese may face charges in Elmore County as the investigation continues.
