Cook Children’s Medical Center in Prosper opened its first neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), expanding its specialized services for newborns needing medical care.
The NICU will be the first located within a children’s hospital in Prosper and neighboring cities, according to a news release.
The details
Cook Children’s officials unveiled the NICU facility Sept. 10, which is designated as a Level 1 facility for specialized pediatric care.
The Prosper NICU features 11 rooms, a dedicated nutrition lab and bedside cameras for parents to check in if they are out of the hospital, according to the release.
Additionally, patients can be seen via telehealth by physicians at the Level IV NICU in Cook Children’s Fort Worth hospital or transferred if necessary for urgent medical situations.
