UK travellers have been left confused over guidelines surrounding liquids in hand luggage.

New security scanners are being rolled out across UK airports which use advanced technology to scan the contents of luggage.

It means that British tourists will not have to remove liquids and large electronic devices, such as laptops, from their bags.

Travellers will also be able to carry liquid containers of up to 2 litres, instead of the 100ml limit.

The strict 100ml liquid rules were brought in during 2006 following a foiled terror plot to blow up planes with homemade liquid bombs.
