COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine said Thursday that the Ohio National Guard will continue its deployment in Washington, D.C., through Nov. 30, 2025, following a request from the U.S. Army.
DeWine’s office said Ohio will maintain 150 military police in the nation’s capital to support the District of Columbia National Guard with presence patrols. While some members will be rotated, none of the military police currently serving also work as law enforcement officers in Ohio.
The extension comes days after former President Donald Trump announced he would take federal control of Washington’s police department and deploy the National Guard to crack down on crime.
