LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A recent audit of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana published by the state has been taken down while officials determine whether it should be made public.
7News obtained a copy of the audit before it was removed from the Legislative Auditor’s site. It showed that one significant deficiency was found while reviewing the tribe’s financial records.
According to the report, during a two-month period, receipts were not provided for 344 credit card purchases totaling $105,416. Another 167 purchases did not have documentation of the business purpose for transactions of $100,254. Additionally, the audit revealed 98 travel charges of $73,515 labelled as “other expenses – council” which did not have accompanying travel request forms.
