ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Two Wylie ISD employees have resigned after posting "inappropriate and offensive comments" about the death of Charlie Kirk.

Wylie West Elementary School Teacher Melinda Lambert and Wylie West Junior High Band Director Chris Brannan were both heavily scrutinized by the public Thursday for social media posts they each made after Kirk was shot and killed while speaking to a crowd during an event at Utah Valley University.

Thursday morning, Wylie ISD confirmed both employees had resigned, saying "while the district cannot comment further on individual personnel matters, we want to reaffirm that Wylie ISD takes situations involving employee electronic communication and social media very seriously."
