CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - People in Iowa and across the country are being fired or disciplined at work for their social media comments on the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk .

That includes an Oskaloosa teacher facing a termination hearing next week and now a Creston and a North Tama teacher are also on leave.

TV9 spoke with an attorney about if disciplining someone for what they post on the internet violates the first amendment right to free speech.

The answer depends a bit on where you work.

If you work for a private company, you could be fired for something you post on your personal social media account.
