LINDEN, N.J. (PIX11) -- Police in Linden, New Jersey, are keeping a watchful eye on the city’s public schools on Friday, following a district-wide lockdown on Thursday.
According to Linden Police, a woman celebrating political activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination on social media was mistakenly identified as a Linden Public Schools employee.
“Phone calls were being made into the district,” said Linden Mayor Derek Armstead. “Phone calls were being made into the city here. And it was quite alarming, to say the least.”
Armstead said threats also came in on Thursday via e-mail and social media, prompting immediate action.
