It was another grueling, though fun, summer for the culinary team over at Deer Valley Resort. With the snow gone and mountain bikers laying claim to the slopes, the team got hard to work, crafting and executing another busy slate of Creative Academy programming.
This summer’s schedule included classes on making barbecue, pasta and even sushi for interested locals and visitors. It concluded with a Colombian empanadas-making class, led by Chef Paula Ibarra of Colombia.
Ibarra helped guests of various experience levels craft the pastries from a cornmeal dough base into the finished product. While she and her staff did the heavy lifting of cooking the beef for the filling, everyone left with the recipe and a better understanding for how to make the dish at home.
