The UK is set to be lashed with wind gusts of up to 55mph.

A yellow warning for wind has been issued for most of England and Wales from 8pm on Sunday to 6pm on Monday.

The Met Office has warned of transport delays and some short-term power cuts in certain areas.

Large waves and spray are likely to hit seafronts and coastal communities, where gusts could be as strong as 70mph.

Met Office spokesperson Graham Madge said: ‘There is no intention to name it, as of now.

‘Obviously, we are in meteorological autumn now, it’s the sort of weather that we do expect at this time of year. ‘So it’s nothing unusual, particularly – perhaps it’s just the contrast with the weather that we have enjoyed over most of the summer.’
