Firefighters rescued a person and a cat after a Southwest Portland house went up in flames around 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

The fire started on the exterior of the house, which is located along the Beaverton Hillsboro Highway in Portland’s Hillsdale neighborhood, Portland Fire & Rescue spokesperson Rick Graves told The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Fire officials say that nobody was injured in the incident, including the cat. Portland Fire & Rescue

Firefighters helped a person in the home’s basement out of the house, as well as a small cat that was inside the residence, Graves said. He added that fire crews were able to get the fire under control before it caused significant damage inside the home.

Nobody was reported injured in the fire — including the cat, Graves said.
