DOOLY COUNTY, Ga. — Nine inmates were injured during a brawl at Dooly State Prison on Friday, according to Dooly County emergency management director Don Williford.

Williford said a group of inmates attacked one or two other inmates around noon on Friday, and a fight broke out. The Georgia Department of Corrections said 11 inmates required medical treatment, and nine were taken to local hospitals.

The GDC also said two inmates were flown to other facilities for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the inmates was in critical condition after the fight, Williford said.

Dooly State Prison, located just outside Unadilla, was placed on lockdown as a result of the fight, according to Williford.
