SOMERSWORTH — The city Police Department will no longer allow people to comment on its Facebook page .

A message on the department's Facebook page from Chief John Sunderland indicated there have been inappropriate posts on the page so a decision has been made to restrict comments.

"Due to inappropriate language and comments on our Facebook page, comments will no longer be permitted for future posts," the chief wrote. "Should you wish to comment, or provide a tip on an image, please feel free to submit that information through a direct message to the police department via Facebook messenger, or through the submit a tip link in the pol;ice department's website which can be found here: http://www.somersworthnh.gov/police ."
