SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The home opener is a big moment in any season. But for this year’s Notre Dame team, it seems to be especially so.

“We’re excited to play at home in front of our home fans, excited and expecting a great atmosphere for another top 25 matchup in Notre Dame Stadium,” says Irish head coach Marcus Freeman. “A&M is 2-0, playing really well in all three phases. Mike Elko-coached teams are tough, physical and they won’t beat themselves.”

The No. 8 Irish began the year with a loss to Miami back in Week 1 , and now after a bye week they really need to pick up a win on Saturday night.

As of right now, this matchup against 16th-ranked Texas A&M is Notre Dame’s last ranked opponent on their schedule, meaning that if the Irish drop to 0-2, they might not have another chance
