While the Modesto Nuts, the Seattle Mariners' minor league affiliate, played their final inning last week before a relocation to San Bernardino, the city said professional baseball will return soon.

Modesto City Council approved an agreement this week with Main Street Modesto, LLC, for a team to play at John Thurman Field as part of the Pioneer Baseball League. Main Street Modesto is an affiliate of the Pioneer League, the city said in a release Friday.
