MANCHESTER, N.H. —

After just one start for the St. Louis Cardinals' Single-A affiliate, Derry pitcher Liam Doyle is being promoted.

Doyle will move up to the Springfield Cardinals, the Cardinals' Double-A team.

The Pinkerton Academy graduate was drafted fifth overall by St. Louis in July .

The 21-year-old now has a chance to compete for a championship, as Springfield enters the Texas League playoffs as the top overall seed.
