WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Renovations to Watertown City Hall have been years in the making, but the cost has nearly tripled over previous estimates.

It has at least one city lawmaker shaking his head in frustration.

The state says city hall has some problems and Watertown taxpayers are going to have to foot the bill to fix them in a massive renovation project

“Our architect has come up with those solutions. The state is happy with those solutions and now requires us to move forward with that plan, which is the construction project,” said Dana Aikins, Watertown Code Enforcement supervisor.
