Najee Dorsey’s “Poor People’s Campaign,” a solo exhibition at the ArtRage Gallery , displays a series of digital media collages that explore the impact of industrial pollution on impoverished communities, many of them predominantly African American.

In focusing on pollution, he references areas like Cancer Alley, an expense of land extending roughly 85 miles from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Over 200 refineries and petrochemical plants operate there, resulting in dramatically risks of cancer, respiratory illness and birth defects.

Dorsey looks at the current impact on various communities and considers how residents respond to threats to health and safety. He also speculates about the future of society in the United States.
