The mother of a New Orleans nonverbal boy killed by an alligator has had her bond hearing pushed for the second time after she was arrested on suspicion of child abuse.
The New Orleans Police Department arrested Hilda Vasquez, the mother of Bryan Vasquez, and she is facing second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and negligent homicide. Advertisement
Hilda Vasquez was supposed to have a bond hearing Monday, but asked for more time to find an attorney.
On Friday, it was announced in court that she would be assigned a public defender. Her arraignment hearing was then pushed to Monday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m.
On Monday, the judge requested protective orders for the other children, while charges are pending, and ordered that Vasquez has no contact with any of her children.
