NEW ORLEANS —

Protesters rallied in New Orleans against federal troops coming to the city.

"This is the wrong solution; we need community first,” said Michelle Timberlake.

A small yet passionate group of protestors chanted outside of city hall.

“They're not going to make our communities safe; they're going to make our community afraid,” Timberlake said.

They're pushing against President Donald Trump's push to send in the National Guard to New Orleans to help lower crime.

“We're going to come into New Orleans, and we're going to make that place so safe. It's got a little problem right now, a couple of headaches like murders,” Trump said.

"We want to say early on no, this isn't right,” said Mike Howells.

The protesters believe there should be another way to fight crime.
