SAN ANTONIO — A federally operated disaster recovery center stationed in Kerrville since the catastrophic July floods will close up shop at 5 p.m. Thursday, leaving a lone FEMA service center operating out of Hunt, Texas.

The assistance area had been operating out of Hill Country Youth Event Center at 3785 Memorial Blvd. since late August as a way for families affected by the flooding to get in-person resources and submit their information for federal assistance.

Kerr County was the hardest-hit area of Central Texas when the Guadalupe River rose to historic levels the morning of July 4, tearing through campgrounds, youth camps and residents along the river.
