HORNELL, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Veterans Suicide Prevention Walk will be held in Hornell on Saturday. The walk aims to raise awareness about the issue of suicide among veterans.

According to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, over 17 veterans committed suicide every day in 2022, which is the most recent data available.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2250 in Hornell organized the walk along with the New York VFW. It is happening Saturday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. The walk begins at the Veterans Monument on Broadway Mall in Hornell. Attendees will then walk to the Hornell VFW where refreshments will be provided and participants will be recognized. You do not have to take part in the walk to participate in the event.
