HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Hickory’s Riverwalk bridge over the Catawba River will be closed for up to six weeks starting next week.
City officials announced that starting Monday, Sept. 15, the record-setting pedestrian bridge will undergo electrical repairs to the lighting system and conduit, which were damaged during Hurricane Helene. The work may take up to four to six weeks to complete.
During this time, all other portions of the elevated Riverwalk trail will remain open and accessible from Hickory City and Rotary-Geitner parks.
The nearly half-mile Riverwalk runs along the southern shores of the Catawba River. It includes the overwater bridge and a combination of waterfront and wooded trails.
