Longtime college football coach Jud Keim, who was serving as the co-defensive coordinator at University of Puget Sound this season, has died following a battle with cancer.

Puget Sound announced the news in a joint statement from Director of Athletics Chelsea Herman and University Chaplain Dave Wright earlier this week.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Coach Jud Keim, who served our campus with care and distinction as co-defensive coordinator for Logger Football,” the statement said. “After a courageous battle with cancer, coach Keim passed away surrounded by loved ones. We join his family, friends, colleagues, and the many scholar-athletes he mentored in mourning this loss.”
