HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- An investigation is underway after a vehicle with human remains inside was found in the Ohio River.

A release from KSP says around 10 Friday morning, a scuba diver found a submerged vehicle near a boat ramp off Dike Lane in Morganfield. The release goes on to say human remains were found in the vehicle.

Troopers say the identity of the remains has not been confirmed. However, investigators believe the discovery may be connected to a Union County man who was reported missing in 2006. The vehicle and remains are being processed by investigators.

The remains will be sent to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and further analysis. KSP are continuing the investigation in coordination with local authorities.
