EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — It's been nearly a year since Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ closed its doors, and yet the congregation is still finding ways to serve its community.
"We know the church is more than a building," longtime member Michele Daum said. "We know what happens in the church and the people within that faith family. That's what's important."
The church held its final service in 2024 — closing the doors on its 175-year history. But the building's legacy will continue to live on through the Evansville nonprofit, Aurora. The organizations plans to convert a large portion of the church into low-income housing.
