SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Slow starts have been a problem for Syracuse this season. The Orange did not score a single point in the first quarter in either of its first two games against Tennessee and UConn. That trend came to an end on Friday night, though in a big way, as SU found the end zone early and often against Colgate in building a 38-3 halftime lead.
After a Raiders punt to open the game, Syracuse went on a seven-play, 65-yard drive culminating in a 26-yard touchdown pass from Steve Angeli to Justus Ross-Simmons.
The two teams would exchange turnovers in the next few minutes. A Will Nixon fumble set up the Raiders with good field position. Colgate was able to cash in with a field goal making it 7-3.
