ENFIELD, Conn. — A collision between a Department of Public Works lawnmower and car in Enfield on Friday proved to be fatal, according to the town’s police department.

The incident occurred on North Main Street, just west of Route 5, around 12:15 p.m. near the town hall and town green.

Police identified the man riding the lawnmower as Jamie Nickerson, a town employee.

He was taken from the scene to Baystate Medical Center by Enfield EMS and was pronounced dead there several hours later.

The driver of the car, which was a Honda Accord, was identified as Alexander Torres. East Windsor EMS transported him from the scene to St. Francis Hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.
