A former Patriot saw his season end during Week 2’s Thursday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers.

Washington Commanders defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. suffered a season-ending left quad injury, which will require surgery, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter . Wise, 31, tried to block an extra point attempt in the second quarter when multiple opposing players rolled up on his leg .

Wise went down in pain immediately and appeared to be inconsolable and in pain as trainers attended to him on the field. He was eventually carted off the field after his teammates surrounded him in support.

The next day, Wise shared a positive message on Instagram and thanked fans for sending well wishes.
