The United Auto Workers union continues to be a supporter of Detroit mayoral candidate, the Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr., with the UAW's Voluntary Community Action Program PAC giving $83,250 to the former autoworker in the latest round of campaign contributions made public.

The $83,250 was the largest donation given to either of the Detroit mayoral candidates between July 21 and Aug. 25, according to the filings. Kinloch, senior pastor of Triumph Church, faces Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield in the November general election to be the city's next mayor.

Despite the hefty support from the UAW PAC, Sheffield continued her financial edge, raising $206,000 while Kinloch raised $116,000, according to the campaign filings. The amounts have been rounded off by The News.
