GRANDVILLE, Mich. — Winter can often mean cold, and brutal storms in West Michigan, and the area’s Meals on Wheels program wants to ensure that even through the toughest blizzards, its clients are fed.
“In the winter, there may be occasions where we'd be delayed, we want to make sure they have non-perishable food in their cupboard so that they're prepared for that eventuality of inclement weather prevents us from getting to them,” said Meals on Wheels Western Michigan Advancement Director Dave Gilman.
Gilman says around 72 volunteers will be distributing emergency meals, consisting of non-perishable food items to seniors in Kent and Allegan Counties.
“We have several different kinds of different meat and grain products," Gilman said. "This is a southwestern chicken, beans and rice.
