DEVILS LAKE — A judge on Friday, Sept. 12, loosened the restrictions of release for the former chief deputy in Benson County.
Travis Carlson, 37, is facing more than a dozen charges related to misconduct of a police officer. He has been out on $10,000 bond since his arrest in late July. He was released with several conditions.
On Friday, a judge lifted two of the three. Carlson is accused of illegally arresting members of the Spirit Lake Reservation, falsifying court records, conducting illegal traffic stops, failing to perform his duties when it pertained to prosecution and harassing women.
“None of the charges lodged against my client are violent charges,” said Tanya Martinez, Carlson’s attorney.
