MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Two days after the death of Charlie Kirk, the Republican Party of Dane County organized a vigil to honor his life on the steps of the state capitol building in Madison.

Almost 200 peopled gathered at the event Friday evening where they said prayers, sand hymns and made speeches to honor Kirk’s life.

Kirk, a right-wing political activist was shot and killed Wednesday while speaking at an event on a college campus in Utah.

Secretary of the Dane County Republicans and organizer of the event, Navin, said the vigil was not meant to be a moment to discuss political policies or the Republican party in general.
