Brusly shook off a sluggish first half and erupted for four third-quarter touchdowns to roll past Broadmoor 43-7 in Friday night’s District 6-4A opener at Panther Stadium.
The win moved the Panthers to 2-0 for the second straight year, following last week’s 42-6 victory over cross-parish rival Port Allen in the Sugar Cane Classic.
Senior quarterback Drake Vincent powered the offense, throwing for 262 yards and four touchdowns.
“We struggled a little bit in the first half, but we went and talked at halftime and I feel like everything came together,” Vincent said. “We take a lot of reps at practice every week on those deep balls and they just weren't connecting. We relaxed and came out in the third quarter, and that's when the deep ball started connecting."
