COLDWATER ― As the reigning Interstate 8 Conference champ, Harper Creek football knows teams hoping to take its title.
But, for now, the Beavers are still in first place.
Harper Creek defeated Coldwater 49-28 in the teams' I-8 game at Coldwater on Friday, Sept. 12.
"We knew they were dangerous. They were young last year and were bringing everybody back and they were looking to make a move in the conference," said Harper Creek coach Mason Converse. "We knew we had to make a statement in this game. And, I would say we made a statement."
Harper Creek opens the league schedule at 1-0 and is 2-1 overall. Coldwater falls to 2-1.
