Class 5A No. 1 Vigor turns to the run in the second half to outlast UMS

Through three games, the high-scoring UMS-Wright offense had been perfect at converting red-zone drives into touchdowns. But that was before they faced the state’s top-ranked team in Class 5A.

The Bulldogs led No. 1 Vigor at the half on the strength of three Kingston Phan field goals. But the Wolves were able to keep it close then exploded for 33 points in the second half to escape with a 39-26 win.
