The second phase of a major water improvement project is underway in Pecos.

The village has begun Phase 2 of a significant water systems improvement project, a step toward modernizing its damaged waterlines that are over 50 years old. Without these improvements, the system cannot provide enough water for household use and firefighting, according to a news release from the village.

“The Village has been at the mercy of this outdated system for decades,” Mayor Telesfor “Ted” Benavidez said in the release. “It’s been a long road to get here, but it’s so exciting to finally see this work happening right in front of us."
