CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Cleveland Heights officials are reviewing two separate development proposals that would transform dozens of city-owned vacant lots into new homes, addressing what officials describe as one of the community’s most pressing issues.

FutureHeights, a community development corporation, has partnered with Rebuild Cleveland to offer to buy 46 city-owned lots at $2,000 a piece and build single-family homes on them.

A separate proposal would see the city sell 19 lots to developer YRM for $1 a piece.

Taken together, the proposed developments would see nearly a third of the 175 vacant lots that the city owns filled with single-family homes.
