DENISON, Texas (KTEN) -- A man in Grayson County was found guilty of kicking and spitting on a Denison police officer.

26-year-old Darian Thomas was sentenced to five years in jail on charges of assaulting and harassing public servants.

"We've got their back," Grayson County District Attorney John Kermit Hill said. "When somebody attacks them when they're just carrying out their official duties, we're going to prosecute those cases."

Thomas received his sentence after a jury trial.
