West Aussies between Kalbarri and Esperance have been advised to prepare for a monster storm set to thrash the coast.

The Bureau of Meteorology said two cold fronts will sweep the southern part of the state on Saturday afternoon and throughout Sunday, bringing with it severe weather and damaging wind gusts in excess of 100km/h.

“Peak wind gusts may reach up to 120 km/h about the coast between Mandurah and Walpole for a period during Sunday morning,” the bureau said.

The fierce wind “may cause damage to homes and property”, and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services is warning locals to secure or tie down any outdoor furniture, trampolines or other loose items around the home that could be picked up and thrown by strong winds.
