CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians prospect Juan Brito will miss 8-12 weeks after undergoing surgery on his injured left hamstring, the club announced Friday.
It marks the second surgery this season for Brito, the No. 15 prospect in Cleveland’s farm system according to MLB Pipeline. The 23-year-old Dominican native missed two months earlier this year after surgery on his right thumb.
Brito appeared in 31 games for Triple-A Columbus this season, but has been sidelined since early July with a “significant” hamstring injury.
While progressing through the end stages of a return-to-play progression, Brito experienced a mild recurrence in symptoms in the hamstring that limited his strength and speed. After follow-up exams by team physicians, doctors excised the affected tendon and scar tissue during
