TARBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — One person has been injured after shots rang out at a football game in Edgecombe County the sheriff's office said.

According to the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office, one person was injured at the Tarboro High School vs. Southwest Edgecombe County High School football game.

The shooting injured one person who has been taken to the hospital by EMS, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office.

Deputies also said one person has been taken into custody.

The sheriff's office told CBS 17 the investigation is still active.
